From Forge to Future: Reflecting on the years of Pro Steel Engineering

When we founded Pro Steel Engineering back in 2012, our ambition was simple: to build a business that stood for quality, integrity, and innovation in steel engineering. What began as a small operation in Pontypool, South Wales has grown into a trusted partner on landmark projects across the UK and beyond ranging from aviation to major sporting venues and critical infrastructure.

A Heritage Built on Skill, Grit, and Purpose

Over the years, Pro Steel Engineering has evolved in ways even we might not have imagined at the outset. We initially focused on specialist construction services only but then through building a team developed a core fabrication and welding offer.  As we embraced new challenges, our capabilities expanded to include project and design management, off-site modular construction, bespoke structures, and site services.

Every project has helped shape who we are today whether it’s delivering high-precision modular steelwork for Manchester Airport’s Pier 2 development, helping deliver attractions like the WRU SCALE experience on the Principality Stadium rooftop, or delivering structures for rail, highway, and heritage sectors.

What remains constant is our commitment to doing things right from adhering to stringent safety and quality standards like BS EN 1090 Execution Class 4 and ISO accreditations to nurturing a culture where every team member feels valued and empowered.

Driven by Innovation; Designed for the Future

One of the things I’m most proud of is how Pro Steel Engineering has embraced innovation. The modular approach which was used extensively on our Manchester Airport project as an example isn’t just about speeding up delivery, it’s about rethinking steel construction in a way that’s safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. Off-site fabrication allows us to improve quality control and reduce onsite disruption, while delivering cost and carbon savings for clients.

This mindset has led to industry recognition over the years, including being shortlisted for national awards and expanding our footprint both regionally and nationally. It’s also led to exciting new opportunities, incredible new members of the team, contributing to infrastructure rebuilding efforts abroad like a substantial bridge in Ukraine, and opening a London office to strengthen our presence in key markets.

All of this has been successfully brought together on our new website thanks to Gareth at Alliance Marketing. We’ve grown a lot since 2012, and our new site demonstrates that we’re not just a small Welsh entity, we’re an international steel specialist with the ability to work on projects of any size and calibre.

Community, Collaboration & Craftsmanship

Pro Steel Engineering has never been just about steel. It’s been about people, the talented engineers, fabricators, welders, project managers, and site teams who are the heart and soul of this company. It’s about the apprentices we’ve trained, the local jobs we’ve supported, and the communities that have welcomed us.

We’ve also worked hard to play a positive role outside of engineering from supporting veterans and the Armed Forces community, to investing in skills development and contributing to the local economy.

Looking Ahead: Bold Projects & Bigger Ambitions

So, what does the future hold?

In short. More ambition. More innovation. More impact.

We’re already gearing up for an exciting pipeline of projects, expanding capacity with new facilities, and pushing our modular engineering capabilities further than ever before. Our aim is to remain at the forefront of steel engineering, not just as a contractor, but as a trusted partner on transformative infrastructure and architectural programmes across the UK and internationally.

We’ll continue to invest in our people, invest in sustainable methods, and always invest in the relationships that make our work successful. The story we started writing in 2012 is far from finished, and the best chapters are still to come.

Here’s to the next 13.5 years and beyond.
