At Pro Steel Engineering, we are redefining how large-scale construction and infrastructure projects are delivered.
Working with partners like WSP, the modular approach combines manufacturing, and digital design with program-level thinking to accelerate delivery, and quality, while significantly reducing time, carbon emissions, and costs on projects.
Instead of working the way we always have done, which today would be inefficient, we now make data-driven decisions and design our projects within a Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DfMA) approach. This means we’re able to work offsite for longer, reduce the number of trips to sites, and ensure time spent on site is as efficient as possible.Â
Benefits of the Kit-of-Parts Method
By manufacturing and assembling off-site, projects that would traditionally take months can often be delivered in a matter of weeks. At Manchester Airport, our approach reduced a build that would normally take 110 days down to just 12 days.
Sustainability is at the core of our business. The kit-of-parts approach reduces site traffic, lowers energy use, and prevents unnecessary waste. At Manchester Airport, 125 tonnes of CO2 emissions were prevented thanks to this method.
Fewer deliveries, shorter build times, and reduced labour needs mean that clients can expect significant cost savings. At the same time, off-site fabrication ensures predictable outcomes, with fewer risks of delays or errors.
By limiting time spent on site, safety risks are minimised. Pre-assembled units reduce the need for complex and high-risk work at height, protecting workers and meeting stringent health and safety standards.
What is a Modular Approach?
The concept is simple yet powerful. Instead of fabricating and assembling thousands of individual steel components on site, Pro Steel Engineering creates larger, standardised, and pre-assembled units in our factory. These are then transported to site for rapid installation.
- Digital-first design using 3D modelling and data-driven planning
- Standardised components that can be reused or adapted across multiple projects
- Off-site fabrication for improved quality control and precision
- Streamlined logistics with fewer deliveries and reduced site disruption
- Rapid on-site assembly, cutting time, labour costs, and carbon emissions
Industries We Support with our Modular Approach
Aviation
Our modular approach is ideal for airports where minimising disruption is essential. We have delivered solutions at Heathrow, Bristol, and Manchester Airports.
Rail
From bridges to station upgrades, modular steelwork allows us to complete projects quickly and efficiently, keeping railways operational.
Highways
Bridges, support structures, and roadside installations can be pre-fabricated and installed rapidly, cutting down road closures and delays.
Sports & Tourism
Stadiums, arenas, and attractions require safety, durability, and speed of delivery. The Modular Approach makes large-scale steel installations more efficient and cost-effective.

Benefits of the the Modular Approach
Accredited and Experienced
We are certified to BS EN 1090 Execution Class 4, the highest standard for fabricated steelwork in Europe. With ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 accreditations, we combine quality, sustainability, and safety in everything we do.
Established and Proven Track Record
From the Olympic Stadium to Transport for Wales walkways, we have delivered some of the UK’s most high-profile projects using innovative engineering methods.
Welsh Expertise with Global Reach
Our headquarters in South Wales houses our state-of-the-art fabrication facilities, but our projects span the UK and international markets. Whether local or global, we deliver with the same precision and commitment.
Case Studies
Manchester Airport Pier 2
Delivered 1,400 tonnes of structural steelwork using a kit-of-parts approach that cut build time from 110 days to just 12, preventing 125 tonnes of CO2 emissions.
Principality Stadium’s SCALE Attraction
Designed, manufactured and installed 160 tonnes of steel to bring Cardiff’s rooftop adventure attraction to life through a modular construction method.
