Project Summary
As part of the A465 Heads of the Valleys road improvement scheme, Pro Steel Engineering was commissioned to fabricate, deliver, and install steel bridge beams. The project formed part of one of Wales’s largest infrastructure upgrades, designed to improve connectivity and safety across a key transport corridor.
The Challenge
The A465 is a critical route for both local communities and national transport, and the improvement works involved building and strengthening multiple bridges along the corridor. Pro Steel Engineering’s role was to supply and install fabricated steel bridge beams within restricted site environments, often working close to live roads and in difficult terrain. Safety, logistics, and accuracy were critical to success.
Our Solution
We fabricated the required bridge beams at our South Wales facility, ensuring every component met BS EN 1090 Execution Class 4 standards. Our project management and site services teams developed safe systems of work for transportation, offloading, and installation. Temporary works solutions were also provided to support structures during installation and to enable lifting in restricted conditions.
The Outcome
The bridge beams were delivered and installed safely, on time, and to specification. The project demonstrated Pro Steel Engineering’s ability to support major national infrastructure upgrades, balancing complex logistics and safety-critical installation with high-quality fabrication.
